FSO Board Meeting Minutes
October 22, 2007

General FSO Meeting – No general Membership Present

Closed FSO Board Meeting called to order by Anne Lee at 1:35pm.  Those present were:  Anne Lee, Jeri Thurman, Michelle Evans, Kim Johnson, Rachelle Robertson, Cheryl Stoner, Katie Allen, Robyn Macey, Mrs. Haux

1. Committee Reports

Academic-      Robyn Macey

Science Fair - 

  • Cheryl Stoner will present to the older grades the scientific method   and how to do a good science project on Nov 30th 9:30 – 12:00.  30 minutes in each class.

Geography Bee – Dec 14th ½ day

  • K-2 will do the map contest
  • 3-8 will get information around Nov 21st and will distribute information to the classrooms

Spelling Bee – March 7th

  • Words were handed out last month
  • Will be handed out again in January
  • Need to make a list for the K-2 classes and will get that out

                              
                                   
Artistic            -           Katie Allen

Reflections Contest – Oct 25th Awards Night 6:30pm

Talent Show – Nov 8th  6:30pm

  • The Stage will not be painted until the spring. 
  • There are not yet 30 entries – encourage people to join
  • Katie needs help setting up and taking down that night.  Set up will be right after school on the 8th

                              
                                     
            Health & Safety -   Kim Johnson
Red Ribbon Week - Oct 8th -11th
            Red Ribbon Week was wonderful  Great Job Kim!

Emergency Kits  -

  • There are some complaints in the classrooms that there is not enough room to store the kits.  It was suggested that they put them above the cupboards in the 5 gallon buckets.  Some teachers have only received a few.
  • Some parents are concerned that there is too much stuff required to put in the packs.  Kim is going to send out a revised letter suggesting parents put the items they feel to be the most important for their child and return them.  She will Check with Darren and the Board to see what they think about this

            Lunch-

  • Things are going better with lunches and vendors giving the correct amount of food. 
  • They are going to look into buying a warmer so that lunches don’t get cold for the second lunch.
